About The Art of Pottery

Although I have loved all things clay since almost as long as I can remember, The Art of Pottery is a more recent adventure. I had been working in finance on and off for almost 15 years and found the stress of the corporate world to be overwhelming and unfulfilling. Pottery had always been an important hobby to me, but in 2019 I made the leap of moving from the greater New York City area back to my home state of New Hampshire to begin my pottery business.

My goal with The Art of Pottery is to create functional pieces of art that can be used in daily life. I want to bring joyful, beautiful functional art into as many home as possible at an affordable price.

All pottery begins as clay dug up from the ground. Shaping this clay by hand gives me a tactile connection to the earth, and nature and inspires my pottery in both shape and decoration. In turn, I do what I can to limit the impact of my work on the environment. This includes the use of solar energy to offset studio usage, the recycling of water, the repurposing of packaging materials whenever possible, and other environmentally conscious choices.
